First. A good book review contains an accurate and complete summary of the content of the book. This summary should include the research question of the book (that is, what is that the books studies); the argument through which this research question is developed; the thesis of the book and finally the conclusions reached in the book. Second. A good book review identifies the primary and most important contributions of the book. The author of the book review should be able to tell the reader why it is important (or not) to read this book. The author of the book review should present his/her argument in support of his/her view of the book. In other words, it is not enough to simply say: I like or dislike this book. As argument needs to be made in support of judgement. Third. The author of the book review should provide an original evaluation of the book. As with the above, this evaluation should be the logic evolution of the argument that the book review author has developed in his/her review. A discussion of the historical contributions of the book and its contemporary relevance would. Also references to contemporary debates. I will send the pdf in an email if it is needed.
