We have been learning about community inventories (asset assessments) and community mapping strategies in this Learning Module. By this time you should have already chosen a community that you would like to assess for your Identifying Community Needs assignment. After reading and viewing all of the required materials for this Learning Module, answer the following questions that are directly related to the community you have chosen – your answer should be at least 2 paragraphs with a minimum of 5 to 6 sentences:
In your opinion, is the community you have chosen a resource poor or resource abundant community or somewhere in-between? Give specific examples from the community that supports your opinion of being resource poor/abundant or in-between. To clarify, resource poor would mean the community lacks enough resources to meet its own needs and resource abundant means the community has more than enough resources to meet its own needs.
If you identified your community as resource poor or somewhere in-between, list resources (at least 3) you feel would most be needed to help this community (none of the resources you list can be money). Specifically discuss how these resources can be used in the community and the help the resources would bring. If you identified your community as resource abundant, discuss what the community has too much of (specifically describe what each of the resources are and how they are used) and how the resources could better be used in the community to fit needs that are going unmet.
