Write a persuasive speech supporting your opinion about an issue or subject that matters to you, that you feel passionately about. Include these elements:
A clear description of the issue and a clear precise statement of your opinion- your position, or claim, about the issue or the subject
Reliable and varied evidence that supports your opinion, or claim
Arguments that acknowledge and refute opposing claims
Research and outside sources to support your ideas
Vivid persuasive language that appeals to your audience
A logical organization that shows the relationship among claims, counterclaims, and evidence
Error-free grammar
-Your first paragraph is the introduction. This gives a brief overview of your topic choice. The last sentence in your first paragraph should act as your thesis statement. It should state exactly what the remainder of your persuasive essay is going to be about. Consider revising this sentence so that it gives your reader a road map and preview of what is to come in the rest of your piece.
-Your supporting paragraphs should each address one topic that you alluded to in your thesis statement. There should be specific evidence given to support your argument. Evidence can be examples from other literary texts, facts and statistics or personal evidence. If you use other sources, do *not* forget to include a Works Cited page.
-Don’t forget to include a counterargument paragraph! Address the following questions in your counterargument paragraph: Who might disagree with your stance on the issue? Why? How would you respond to those people in one paragraph?

-Your conclusion paragraph should re-cap everything your discussed in your essay and drive your point home.

*Cite your sources in APA format.
