CHAPTER 2
Introduction
In Chapter 2 we will be taking a closer look at the physical and chemical responses
individuals have to stressors. Stress can be caused by biological agents, the
environment as well as other external sources, these stressors are processed by
your “personal-computers” (i.e. brains) and instructs the rest of your body to
respond (Flight-or-Fight). All of us have certain stressors that trigger the same
physical responses every time we experience them. A physiological response can
be as “simple” as muscle tension or as complex as memory lost. We unfortunately
cannot significant change how our bodies chemically and/or physiologically
responds to stressors (i.e. medication); however, we can cultivate
stress management techniques that will allow us to process our physical and
emotional reactions in a positive way.
