Helpful Context: These podcasts are from NPR and are based on interviews conducted for a book called “Working” that portrayed various jobs in the US in the 1970s, In each podcast, you first hear/read excerpts from original interview in the 1970s and second, hear/read excepts from a very recent interview of the same interviewee – now 50 years later as they reflect on their interview answers! It is quite fascinating to listen to/read the original and later interviews with each person. If you read the transcripts, the original interview excerpts are labeled in the transcripts as (SOUNDBITE OF ARCHIVED RECORDINGS) and the more current soundbites of these same interviews is cued by (Laughter). If you listen to the podcast, the change the interviewee’s voice ages and this cues you to know that interviewee is being interviewed a second time, 50 years later.
