Create a position paper on a hot-button news topic. Describe how the development of media technologies has affected the contentious subject.
Pick one of the subjects covered in this course: The treatment of women in the workplace (including equal pay and online harassment), race in the media, body image, public trust in the media, free speech, and hate speech.
Your position paper should clearly describe the nature of the issue, exhibit critical thinking, sound logic, persuasive arguments, personal passion, and reliable evidence that is properly cited.
In a three-page paper, address the following:
Include a quotation, a question, or a statistic from the literature in the opening along with a summary of the three main points you will discuss.
A thesis statement at the conclusion of the first paragraph introduces your position.
Give three key arguments to back up your thesis (put each major point in a separate paragraph).
Put a solid conclusion to your essay by restating the ideas you previously presented and supported.
Effectively organize your justifications and defend your assertions.
With convincing language, strong logic, true statements, and reliable backing for the claims, you can show that you have a personal commitment to your perspective as well as critical thinking.
