  • What was the most important thing you learned in your Semester 1 Communications course?

Read through Section 2.10 “Adapting messages” in the eText.  Based on your experience with writing in the past, where do you think you need the most improvement?  Review the list of suggested “controls” for making information more understandable for your specific audience.  Pick one of the “controls” and discuss how it could have been used to improve a writing assignment you completed in the past.

Part 1

To help me learn more about you and some of your interests, please create a 1-2 page LETTER ADDRESSED TO ME that describes yourself. Specific instructions are as follows:1. Create the letter using Microsoft Word2. Include the following in your letter: Brief Introduction/Background Why you are in the business program? What interests you most in this field of study? Describe your dream job. What would you like to be doing after you graduate? List and describe two (2) interests you have outside of academic life

(excluding a part-time job). This could include sports, clubs, volunteer, and hobbies that you participate in during your free time. 3. Sign the letter with your full name and student number4. Submit the letter to the Drop Box by the due date as outlined on MyCanvas

Part 2

For step two, you will use the “track changes” feature in MS Word to revise your Lab 1 Biography Letter:1) Open your Lab 1 Biography letter in MS Word2) Click on the Review tab at the top3) Turn on “Track Change” by clicking on the button and use the top dropdown list to the right of the button to ensure the “All Markup” feature is selected.4) Revise your Lab 1 Biography Letter by formatting it as a formal business letter. You will use what you learned in Weeks 5 and 6 to help you. LAB Assignment #2

This Lab Assignment forms the foundation of your Research Report Assignment.  Do NOT begin working on this Lab until you have viewed the Week 1 videos about Research and APA!

For this assignment, you will find the references/resources that you will use when writing your Research Report Assignment and you will write them in APA format.  You will also start thinking about how you will structure or organize the “body” of your Research Report.

To complete this assignment, you will download and save a copy of the attached “Lab 2” file.  The file contains a fillable form that you will complete.  Detailed instructions and grading details are included on the form.  Once the form is complete, you will upload it to DropBox.

Assignments must follow the 2-page template style and format provided and must not contain any unnecessary formatting (ie. hi-lighted text, borders, headers, footers, inconsistent font size or style).  Students who submit assignments with unnecessary formatting may be asked to re-submit and in this case, their work will be subject to a 15% per day late penalty.

NOTE: At least one reference must be from the Mohawk College Library Database!
