Collaborative Goal Setting [CLO: 2] |
Prior to beginning work on this week’s discussion, read the Stevens, Beurskens, Köke, and van der Weijden (2013) The Use of Patient-Specific Measurement Instruments in the Process of Goal-Setting: A Systematic Review of Available Instruments and their Feasibility article.
Health and Wellness Professionals use a myriad of tools (e.g., MyPlate or MyFitnessPal) to help clients identify specific target behavior(s) and S.M.A.R.T. goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and trackable for behavior change.
In this discussion, you will assume the professional role you selected in the “Post Your Introduction” and generate three goals for your client avatar.
Be sure to take into account the client’s personal and cultural background, as well as confidence level in their ability to change. Select one of the patient-specific measurement instruments from the Stevens, Beurskens, Köke, and van der Weijden (2013) article, and demonstrate how this tool can be used to establish and evaluate progress towards a specific goal.
