Consider the collision of civilizations during the colonial era. The encounter between the Europeans and the Native Americans in the colonial era represented a critical moment in the history of humanity. Ancient civilizations that had been ignorant of each other’s existence encountered each other in every conceivable way—socially, economically, politically, culturally, and of course, militarily. Using the assigned readings, discuss the broad characteristics of these points of contact between the Native Americans and the Europeans. How did the values of the two groups differ?
