Propose a study involving a quasi-experimental or experimental research design. Be sure to name your study design, and use references to the text and other resources to provide evidence that your design is appropriate. To prepare for your proposal, review relevant research. Summarize in your introduction at least three of these studies.
In your proposal, be sure to consider issues of diversity and research ethics, and to clearly describe the strengths and limitations of your study design.
Use the Quantitative Proposal Form given in the resources to complete your quantitative study proposal. Use references to support your assertions and claims. For example, if you identify something as a strength of this proposed study, be sure to cite evidence to support that claim.

1. Introduction | 1. Introduction |
Introduce the study and summarize the existing research sufficiently that your readers will understand the basis for your study. | Enter your text here. |
2. Research Question(s) | 2. Research Question(s) |
List each research question, in clear and specific terms, for this study. | Is there a correlation between family dynamics and environmental factors for aggressive adolescents ages 10-18? |
Describe how your research questions deal with: | Enter your text here. |
· Descriptions (for example, of a phenomenon of interest), | Enter your text here. |
· Relationships or correlations (for example, how highly related are two variables to each other), or | Enter your text here. |
· Differences (for example, how are participants who complete the treatment different from those who don’t?) | Enter your text here. |
3. Hypotheses | 3. Hypotheses |
List each hypothesis you will test for this study. Be sure that each hypothesis is clear, specific, and testable. Be sure that each hypothesis flows logically from the literature and background information provided already. | Enter your text here. |
4. Quantitative Approach | 4. Quantitative Approach |
· Specify the quantitative approach (e.g., correlational research, quasi-experimental, experimental) being proposed for this study | Enter your text here. |
· Provide a rationale for this approach over other possible quantitative approaches- explain why this is the best way to test your hypotheses. Use references and cite appropriately. | Enter your text here. |
5. Variables | 5. Variables |
· What are the variables of interest for this study? Provide a specific conceptual definition here. | Enter your text here. |
· Which of these variables are independent variables? | Enter your text here. |
· Which of these variables are dependent variables? | Enter your text here. |
· Which of these variables are other variables of interest? Specify how they are of interest (for example, covariate, confound, etc.) | Enter your text here. |
· Operationally define each of your study variables. Be sure each variable is objectively and reliably measureable. | Enter your text here. |
· Will you use existing measures in your research? If yes, describe the reliability and validity data of the measure. | Enter your text here. |
· Will you create measures for this research? If yes, Describe your development and pilot testing procedures for this measure. | Enter your text here. |
6. Sample | 6. Sample |
· What is the population of interest? | Enter your text here. |
· Who are the sample participants? | Enter your text here. |

7. Procedures | 7. Procedures |
· What are the participant recruitment procedures? | Enter your text here. |
· What are the study procedures? (What will you do and where will you do it in obsessive detail) | Enter your text here. |

8. Statistics | 8. Statistics |
· What statistics will be used in this study? Be specific for each hypothesis to be tested which variables you will use and which statistical test. Separate them by number. | Enter your text here. |
· How do the statistics fit the needs of the study? | Enter your text here. |
· If post hoc analyses are being considered, discuss these as well, including a rationale for your choice of analysis. | Enter your text here. |
