Theory Application

Part 1:

In any doctoral program, it is important to understand the value of theories in your research. Theories give researchers different ‘lenses’ by which to look at the world through. Okay, not the whole world, but particular problems or issues. Theories can provide different insights into different aspects of those problems or issues.

Using the NCU library, do some research on “Network Theory.” Also, using your area of specialization, which is “Cybersecurity”; choose an area of interest and a common problem or issue regarding technology. For example, your specialization might be Information Systems. Your area of interest might be software development and your issue or problem area might be challenges in Quality Assurance testing.

Write a theory application in which you:

Discuss the concepts behind your chosen theory including how the theory has been developed or changed over time.
Discuss how the theory has been used in at least 5 recent peer-reviewed journal articles in your area of interest (Cybersecurity)
Explain the concepts around your specific issue or problem in your area of interest. (i.e. what are the challenges in Quality Assurance Testing?)
Apply the theory to your area of interest and explain how it applies to your issue or problem area.

Length: 8-10 pages not including title page or references

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy.

Part 2:

For the next aspect of this assignment, create a PowerPoint presentation based on your paper. Assume that you are delivering the presentation to students, like yourself, who have not yet taken this course.

Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.

Length: 5-7 slides (with a separate reference slide, if needed)
Notes Length: 100-150 words for each slide

Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style where appropriate. Save the file as PPT with the correct course code information.

Your assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
