Rhetoric comparison and analysis
1. Identify the arguments on both sides using three methods of development.
2. Explain the rhetoric of each writer and how effective it is in furthering that writer’s argument.
3. Come to a conclusion about the issue based on analyzing both of the writers’ arguments.
This conclusion should sum up not how you feel about the issue and not how you think the issue should be resolved but how the issue has become clearer to you and thus what insight about the issue you are bringing to the reader.
You do have a point to make because it is your explanation of the argument and that is the point of the essay. Practicing staying neutral in order to explain the argument to the reader prepares you to form your own argument/counter argument in the following paper.
