Read the article titled Spending Patterns.
Prepare to engage in discussion addressing the following questions.
- What do you notice about the demographics of people who receive benefits (for example look at race, education, married couples versus single parent families, etc.)?
- What types of benefits are the clients receiving?
- How do the spending patterns of people who receive benefits differ from families that don’t receive benefits?
- What facts presented in this study surprise you?
- Do you think some of these programs hinder people from becoming self-sufficient?
