Greatest Slave Rebellion in Modern History

Hahn argues that we missed “Greatest Slave Rebellion in Modern History” and we did so, in part, because of the

way certain groups came to understand and remember the war and slave behavior during the war. Explain the points of view Hahn identifies as expressed by

(a) white southerners after the Civil War;

(b) of white northerners after the Civil War;

(c) of African Americans after the Civil War; and, finally,

(d) that of W.E.B. Dubois, the great African American intellectual writing in the 19303.
