Question:

You company (Facebook) is about to go public in order to attract additional investors to support the development and growth of the firm. As agreed among the present owners, a number of special conditions will be written into the company charter concerning the distribution of earnings. They are as follows:

  • Up to 5% of net earnings may be distributed to shareholders of the company each year, at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
  • Up to 15% of net earnings will be reinvested in the company each year, at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
  • Each year, no less than 80% of net earnings will be invested in a non-profit company created for the sole purpose of purchasing and managing conservation lands in the wilderness regions surrounding Glacier National Park straddling the US/Canadian border. An independent board of directors will be responsible for running the non-profit entity.

Your group is to prepare a communication’s approach and the appropriate language for attracting and communicating to investors likely to take shares in your company. Who will you target; what will you say to attract their investment; how will you explain the special conditions described above. Justify your choices. In total, this assignment should be between 4-5 pages, double-spaced.

As a second part of this assignment, please also prepare responses to likely ‘difficult questions’ (at least three) that may be asked at press events or other communication events for potential investors. In total, this assignment should be between 2 pages, double-spaced.
