At this website, you will review various aspects of ENGLISH LAW:

A) Go to EARLY NORMAN LAW.
Go to LAWS OF WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR (first entry in this section)

B) Go to ORIGINS OF COMMON LAW: 12th C
Go to KING JOHN OF ENGLAND AND THE JEWS: CHARTERS, c.1201 (second from the bottom in this section)

C) Go to COMMON LAW: 13th C
Go to MAGNA CARTA 1215 (second entry in this section)

Each of the sites contains information on the legal writings of the day. In your own words (copy and paste or direct copy of material will result in a grade of 0), you are to write a summary, in a minimum of 750 words, in which you compare and contrast the Code of Hammurabi (the foundation for future legal systems in the West), the legal writings of ancient China and India (representing the ancient views of the East), and the English Law (the foundation for our legal system, which is in part based on the Code of Hammurabi).

Pay attention to things like wordage, cultural or religious overtones, and identified specific crimes and punishments, discussing various similarities and differences in these things in the summary.
