Goals: This assignment will have you expand upon your knowledge of the U.S. governing system as a whole and compare its actions and principles to those of another government.
Directions: In order to complete this paper you will need to:
- Describe the function of the U.S. government as a whole, including how the three branches interact, what role the citizens play, and how different things are accomplished
- Analyze and interpret some of the founding documents of the U.S. government (ie. the Constitution, Declaration of Independence etc.) to discover the principles of the government and what the founders wanted.
- Analyze current event including laws, politics, and social issues to tell if the government is still following those principles.
- Repeat this process for another country. You may use sources like ABC Clio and CIA World Factbook to retrieve information. Be sure your sources are credible, you should be working with the official government documents, not someone’s interpretation of what the documents mean.
