Climate Change
This activity should be considered the culmination of all the weeks you have studied thus far. Each week we have taken the opportunity to consider how the Earth exists and also explore how/why the Earth is not a static sphere. Also evident is how humans are impacting the Earth.
When all these impacts are compounded and considered, the unfortunate outcome is that humans are having a negative impact on the Earth System, and consequently, are causing rapid global climate changes. Climate change in and of itself is a natural process and has occurred numerous times in Earth’s history.
However, the rate at which the Earth’s climates are changing is unprecedented and has been attributed to man’s behaviors on our planet.
Please use the following link to select a climate for your project. http://www.blueplanetbiomes.org/climate.htm Specifically, scroll down to the section titled: Three Basic Climate Groups and you may select any climate listed under groups I, II, or III.
You will create a power point displaying your chosen climate. Be sure to reference your syllabus for the specific requirements of the assignment.

Climate change in and of itself is natural process and has occurred numerous times in Earth’s history. However, the rate at which the Earth’s climates are changing is unprecedented and has been attributed to man’s behaviors on our planet.
You will create a power point (with a minimum of 12 slides and a maximum of 16) or some other creative means of displaying your assigned climate.
You must include:
- A comprehensive description of your climate
- Geographical locations around the globe where your climate is found, along with examples. However, for sake of this assignment, choose one location to focus on when talking about Global Climate Change and your specific climate.
- Identify the spheres that are present in the one location you have chosen.Explain the current state of those spheres and how they are likely to change due to Global Climate Change.
- How the Kyoto agreement or another significant mandate may have a positive impact on your climate.Be specific about how slowing down the effects of Global Climate Change will also slow the changes to your specific climate. Please note, it may be sad to say, but for some climates the damage has already been done. It is entirely possible that your climate may not be able to be saved!
- The project will be a creative, interesting, and meaningful experience! Your presentation must address the importance and relevance of your climate in our earth/space system. Remember to suggest ways to slow down the impact. Your presentations will complement subject areas such as environmental science, earth/space systems science, biology, physical science, and chemistry.
