Required:
-Thesis statement
-bibliography (must include a minimum of eight reference sources that are not online sources. The bibliography must follow CMOS guidelines.)
Appropriate sources for art history research include: books, art and art history journals, newspapers, exhibition catalogues, museum brochures that have a significant amount of information, artworks themselves, filmed interviews with the artist or critics, documentaries,
-preliminary outline of paper (must include the following: a thesis statement in complete sentences, an outline for the main body of your argument with at least one reference per point you intend to make, and a plan for the conclusion.)

Each student will write a 6–8 page research paper focusing on an issue relevant to an art movement, single artist, or artwork. You will select an appropriate topic, conduct your own research, and formulate original ideas about your topic.

Please conform to the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) throughout your paper, include a bibliography, and use appropriate reference notes (footnotes preferred).

You will be graded on the quality of your research, your ability to select appropriate research materials, your ability to synthesize materials from a variety of sources, the soundness of your thesis, and the clarity of the presentation of your ideas.
