Building A Person’s Character

Act 1 Scene 3 of Shakespeare’s Drama “Hamlet” comprises a speech by Polonius to his son. Listed below are nine lessons that may be derived from this speech (Koehn, 2012). These lessons can contribute to building a person’s character.

  2. Choose friends carefully
  3. Practice great discernment
  4. Stay true to your conviction
  5. Keep listening
  6. Do not be quick to judge
  7. Present yourself
  8. Keep your balance sheet clean
  9. Know thyself

Select three or more of these and write an essay (500 Words = 1 page ) describing how you think each one that you selected provides appropriate character-building advice for a public service professional and, why.

This assignment is worth 10% of the overall course grade and should be written as an essay with an introduction, main body and a conclusion. Format, double-spaced with 1 inch margins. APA Format including a References Section.
