Today college athletics are highly commercialized. Big-time programs receive millions of dollars off of the popularity of their teams and their athletes. However, the student-athletes are not able to receive any payment for their “work” on the field.
Write a position paper on what you think the effects of commercialization have been on big-time college sports. In addition, do you think big-time college athletes should be paid?
If so, how would you work out a “payment program” considering over 1/2 of all big-time college athletic programs do not make money.
