Week 4 Discussion Board – Achieving Social Media Success

This week, you’ll be reviewing what it takes to be truly successful on social media by doing the following:

1) Please watch this video, entitled Online Marketing Rock Stars, featuring Gary Vaynerchuk. Be sure to watch the entire video.

  1. PLEASE NOTE: Gary Vaynerchuk is known for his bad language and use of expletives. He uses that language in a way that’s meant to be lighthearted, so please don’t take it offensively. He provides many wise tips in this video on how to be successful on social media.

2) After watching the video, please answer all of the following questions:

  1. What do we need to consider before we think of our social media strategy (even before we define what we’re about)? Why? Watch the 1:00-1:50 mark in the video for the answer to this question.
  2. How do you determine which social network is best for you to use? Watch the 3:20-4:10 mark in the video for the answer to this question.
  3. What’s the name of the type of arbitrage Gary suggested? What did he accomplish by using that type of arbitrage? Watch the 7:45 mark in the video for the answer to this question.
  4. Identify one word or theme you could use to build your brand (like Gary used the word“wine”). Make sure your word is specific (e.g., not “love” because you could be in love with someone or love doing a certain activity).
  5. How do you build an Instagram audience? Watch the 8:15 mark in the video for the answer to this question.
  6. What is so important about your mobile phone? As a P.R. professional, why should you care about that? Watch the 14:05 mark in the video for the answer to this question.
  7. What do you need to do on the top 5 social media channels? Watch the 15:00 mark in the video for the answer to this question.
  8. What tactic does Gary suggest you use for Instagram marketing? Watch the 21:30 mark in the video for the answer to this question.
  9. Gary ends his talk by saying that he “day trades attention.” How is that term defined? Watch the 22:00 mark in the video for the answer to this question.

Proofread both of your posts extraordinarily carefully in order to avoid grammatical, spelling, and typographical errors.
