Unit Plan

Planning for instruction is the systematic process by which you, the teacher, carefully creates instructional materials that cover the standards and the objectives set by the Utah State Board of Education Career and Technology department. These standards are created by an advisory board of educators supervised by the USOE CTE Specialist. They refer to the standards set by the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) and the National Business Education Association (NBEA). (Note: while the sample unit plan includes the standards from ISTE and NBEA, your unit plan for Secondary Education does not require this.)

This planning includes developing, sequencing, and managing instructional activities to promote student learning. A unit plan is developed to cover the topics in a cohesive way. Daily lesson plans are created from the unit plan.

OBJECTIVE:

  • Create a unit plan covering the standards and objectives for a topic in a business/marketing/technology course.

PROCEDURES:

  1. Review the courses in business/marketing or technology at the USOE CTE Courses Web site and then select a course and a strand to use when creating a unit plan.
