a) Read the author’s Preface the author provides some background and explains his
b) Read Chapter 1, “Facts Matter,” where explains the dangers of the politicization of
science and allowing belief or economic goals trump scientific facts
c) Read at least two chapters from Chapters 3-9 to focus on in your paper
d) Read Chapter 10 to get some ideas about how to improve the situation
e) Your paper should include the following:
i) A brief summary of the author’s main points or goals (see Preface and Ch. 1)
ii) A summary of at least two chapters you selected from Chapters 3-9
iii) A reflection of what you have read/learned and your suggestions about how
we can improve upon the situation (see Chapter 10 to help you)
