A 30 years old female named Robin Banks who has been diagnosed with mild intellectual disabilities after a horrible car crash but; she has proven to be on the high function spectrum. Her parents are getting older and decided to place her in a group home however, they still remain her legal guardians. Prior to the accident Ms. Banks had recently graduated with her masters in occupational therapy with zero debt. Ms. Banks can cook independently and enjoys doing so.
Our client wants a quality of life as in wants to have a significant other, wants a job, and wants to be travel trained as well as live on her own. However, her parents would rather keep her sheltered and send her to program and keep her in a 24 hour supervised residence. How do we go about doing what is best for our client (Robin Banks) without causing a war with her parents?
