Reflective thinking as a psych nurse practitioner

Write a one page reflective writing using the background information on Pauls’s exhortation in Thessalonian 5:14-18 and answer the questions: Does your plan as PMHNP (psych mental health nurse practitioner) for patient care line up with paul’s exhortation?

Background Information

this workshop outcomes is to apply theory to the care of the psychiatric patient. As I read that outcome my thoughts went to Paul’s exhortation in 1 Thessalonians 5:14-18.

“………Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. 15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

We can implement Paul’s words into our very patient care: comfort (the patient), uphold (the patient), be patient (with the patient), do not repay evil (to anyone-ever), pursue God (always-even while at work), pray (always), give thanks (always)…”  I can see this as part of God’s Theory of Care (if you don’t mind me taking some liberty here!). As APRNs (Advanced practice registered nurse) these are qualities that should always be exercised in our patient care.

Instructions

    1. We all have our own “theories”. Does your plan for patient care line up with Paul’s exhortation?
    2. Take some time and reflect on this.  See what He shows you and share it
