Political Cartoon Informational Paragraph

You will write a perfect paragraph that 1) defines the five techniques artists use in Political (Editorial) Cartoons, and 2) explains how the artist used these techniques in a political cartoon of your choice. You should not use the pronoun “I” in informational or argumentative writing.In this paragraph, you must use a semicolon (;) and a colon (:) correctly.

 

1 – The first sentence (topic sentence) of a perfect paragraph explains what the paragraph will be discuss:

                Ex. Using five techniques, political cartoon artists communicate powerful ideas through satire: symbolism, exaggeration, labeling, analogy, and irony.

2 – The second sentence of a perfect paragraph further explains your topic sentence. In this case, the second sentence should discuss how the five techniques political cartoon artists use work together to make a point about an issue through humor or satire.

By using these five components, the cartoon artist is able to deliver a message about someone or something in a very powerful way; in essence, one could say a political cartoon is a small “window” into the issues of our time. This cartoon cleverly demonstrates the problem of physical abuse in the NFL, and that while the players of football must wear a facemask, many wives apply a “face mask” to cover the evidence of the wounds their husbands gave them.
