These poems about the 9/11 attacks were first published no more than a year or so later. Now, 16 years later, consider what these poets need their readers to contribute to the reading process. That is, how much knowledge do these poets expect readers to bring to their poems? Consider also which images, phrases, descriptions, or choices of focus most clearly identify the poems as being about 9/11. Which seem less obviously to refer to 9/11? What else might these moments seem to refer to? Draw upon your own knowledge (whether full or limited) and your experience reading the poems to consider these issues. Refer to specific parts of at least two of the poems to support your points.
